Student Blogger-Kai

Hello everyone! My name is Kai. I am 8 years old. I live with my mom, dad and big sister. I love Star Wars, Legos, cartoons and graphic novels. Some of my favorite things to do are helping my Papa (grandpa) with his chickens and gigantic garden, and riding my bike downtown. We live near the river, so it's not too far of a ride.

Here I am picking hops in Papa's garden.

This picture was taken last weekend. We rode our bikes downtown and treated ourselves to lunch at Burgers and Brew.

Today I will share what I did this past weekend. On Saturday my uncle, aunt and Meme (grandma) came over for dinner. I wanted to eat my dinner at the little table in front of the fireplace and ended up falling asleep because of the warm, cozy fire. My family snuck this picture of me when I fell asleep. It's so funny!

On Sunday morning I went to the Farmers Market. Have you ever seen so many different colored carrots?!

Later on my dad hung up some shelves in my bedroom. My mom and I figured out what to put on the shelves and dresser. We added my globes, shark bank, wood turtle, kaleidoscope from my great-grandpa, Disneyland hat, gourd that I did art on, model train piece (just like the train my other Papa drives at his work), a surfer van and picture, and some sand dollars. Here is what it looked like before and after:

Now you know a little more about me. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog entry!

  1. Kai,

I enjoyed reading your post. I go to the same farmer's market every Sunday morning and often ride my bike around Midtown too. I will probably bump into you some morning. Have you had any pastries from the German baker at the market? They are yummy! My nephews also love getting the cherry-apple juice from the apple tent.

    1. Dear Mr. Wood,

I have had the pastries from the German baker at the market. Where do you find the apple tent at the farmer's market? You should try Lienert's raw honey. I'm sure we will bump into each other when we're riding our bikes.

I like that you wrote about your favorite restaurant Burgers and Brew. What do you order there? Also your room looks great! It was great to learn more about you!

    1. Dear Ms.Steinlein,

I love to order the cheeseburger and fries with ketchup at Burgers And Brew. I love In-N-Out too. What is your favorite restaurant? I hope we see each other at the farmer's market.

    2. Kai-
A cheeseburger and fries sounds delicious. It is way too hard for me to pick a favorite restaurant because I like all kinds of foods. My favorite fast food place is In-N-Out though! They have the best french fries!

  4. Dear Kai,
I never heard of Burgers and Brew. Do they have great burgers? I never knew that your grandpa has chickens. Is it fun helping your grandpa?

  5. Dear Ava,

Burgers And Brew don't have the great burgers there. Did you know that the chickens can eat mint leaves?! My grandpa has 13 chickens in his garden. It is fun helping my grandpa in the garden.

  6. Dear Ava,

Sorry, I meant to say they do have great burgers there! They have lots of different kinds. You can even eat the buffalo burger! Do you think you will go soon with your family?

  7. Hi Kai,
I've never heard of Burgers and Brew. Are the burgers there really good? I hope they are. What color carrots were there and do they taste the same as normal carrots? I've ate yellow carrots before. They are very yummy like orange carrots.
