I love going on vacation with my family. Every year we go to Mexico. I love going to Mexico because I get to swim in the ocean and call room service whenever I want. The hotel where we stay is cool because it has a kids club and I get to see performances every night.

Star of the Week-Amaru

Hello, my name is Amaru, and I really enjoy going on vacations with my family.
Let me tell you about my vacation last Summer when we went to Big Trees, then California Caverns and then the beach at Point Reyes National Park.

IMG_6677.JPG
First, we went to Big Trees.  This is one of the biggest redwood trees I saw there.  There were many interesting trees to look at, along with many signs that talked about the history of the trees.  When I saw some of the tall trees it made me feel as small as a grain of rice!
IMG_6692.JPG
This was one of the trees that fell down.  Instead of taking the normal path, my sister and I went right through the log to get to the other side.  It was fun to walk along the inside of a tree!
IMG_6694.JPG
This is the root of a fallen tree.  It has many roots because it was very tall and needed all the roots to support its weight.  I felt dizzy looking at all the roots!
IMG_7761.JPG
This is me near a small river.  I liked to watch the ripples go by in the water.  My sister, my dad and I made boats out of leaves and twigs.  I think mine went the fastest!
IMG_7806.JPG
My mom and I climbed a tree.  This is a picture of us up in the tree near the small river.  It was high, but I wasn’t afraid.
IMG_6569.JPG
Then we visited California Caverns.  We had to wear helmets in order to go deep inside this cave.  It looked pretty dark down there, but I was brave enough to go down and explore.
IMG_6574.JPG
There were so many different types of crystalline formations!  To me, this rock and stalactite formation looked like a monster with several jaws and long sharp teeth.
IMG_6579.JPG
This stalactite formation looked like we were inside the mouth of another monster.  But I wasn’t scared, even when they turned the lights out to show us how dark it was!
IMG_6585.JPG
To me, this one looked like a long smelly elephant foot!
IMG_6598.JPG
And this stalactite formation looked like the tooth of a huge saber-toothed tiger.

I am so glad we got to see so many different crystalline formations in this cavern!
IMG_6625.JPG
This is when I was outside of the cave, and we got to pan for crystals and gems.  This an amethyst I found.

This trip was so much fun!
IMG_7628.JPG
On our way to the Point Reyes beach, we saw some Tule elk by the road.  They were huge and ran very fast!
IMG_7282.JPG
This is my sister and I playing at the beach.  We were running away from the big waves.  The water was cold but the sand was very warm.
IMG_7316.JPG
This is me holding up against one of the big waves that had just passed.  My face got soaked!
IMG_7453.JPG
Some of the waves hit the rocks and I heard a ginormous splash, crash and whoosh!  Sometimes the waves were so loud I didn’t want to get too close.
IMG_7328.JPG
We saw a lot of wildlife at the beach.  This is one of the jellyfish that we saw on the shore.  I sure didn’t want to touch it!
IMG_7466.JPG
This is another creature I saw.  It is some sort of small crab.  I liked the way it walked.  It was really fast!
IMG_7330.JPG
We also saw a DOLPHIN in the water!  It was exciting to watch the dolphin swim past us right along the sea shore.  I had never seen a dolphin in real life before, so I was very ecstatic.
IMG_7352.JPG
My dad and I found piece of tree trunk floating in the water.  We used it like an island and stood on top of it when the waves crashed.  We also build a sand fort around it.  I thought it was interesting that the tree trunk floated perfectly in the water, but was really hard to lift and move around on dry land.
IMG_7577.JPG
My sister and I buried ourselves in the sand and waited for a wave to come.  It was so much fun when the wave crashed right down on us!

This picture was taken right as the wave crashed.

I had a fun time at the beach with my family. I hope you get to go to Point Reyes beach some day, too!

Thank you for reading my blog,
and I hope you enjoy your family vacations as much as I do!

Star of the week-Milo

Hi my name is Milo, I will be turning eight on April 16th.

I love going on family vacations!  I like to go to Lake Tahoe. I like to go skiing in the winter with my family, but my brother snowboards.
In the summer when we go to Lake Tahoe I like to go camping.  I also like to go to Arcata with my family, which is in Humboldt County.  We like to go to the beach in Arcata, where my grandma has a beach house and that is where we stay when we go to Arcata.
My favorite sport is baseball my second favorite sport is squash. This season I am on a baseball team called the USC Trojans in AA division. My favorite position is shortstop.  My favorite professional baseball team is the San Francisco Giants.  I am excited that I am going to see the Giants play in San Francisco in a couple of weeks.
I like to play squash because I like to play with balls and I like hitting balls with a racquet.  You play on a indoor court. It is a challenging game that I like to play usually in the winter time. My grandpa taught me how to play squash and he taught my brother how to play squash too. My dad was a racquetball champion when he was 9 years old.

I like to play with my big brother a lot.  We like to do a lot of stuff together! We like to build forts, play ping pong, play catch with a baseball, we like to play basketball together too.

Thank you for reading my blog :)

Star of the week-Samantha

Hi my name is Samantha,
I’m 7 years old.
IMG_0901.jpeg

I was born with a “very big smile” on my face. I had what doctors called cleft lip and palate. My mom said she already knew that I had this condition before I was even    born! The reason why she knew is because the doctor had a machine that could tell
what I  look like inside her belly and it’s called an “ultrasound”. I had surgeries and that’s why I have a scar in my mouth. My mom always says that she still  misses my big smile.

IMG_5041.jpegIMG_5045.jpeg

During our winter break, my family and I went to Cisco Grove to play in the snow. I love sledding down the snowy mountain. I remember I went a little too fast at one time. I did a somersault and I landed face down. Everyone was staring at me. My face was covered with snow. My dad ran to me and got me up. I was okay. Sledding in the snow is so much fun! Later that day, my sisters and I found a snowman almost as tall as my 2 year old sister. Someone had built him but he was falling apart when we found him. We fixed him and gave him a nose, eyes and arms out of sticks. My sister Baylee kept on calling him Olaf.

IMG_4298.jpegIMG_5703.jpegIMG_5696.jpeg

I am a Brownie. I just finished selling Girl Scouts cookies. It is always fun to sell cookies because I get to count money and give change. I also enjoy going to site sales with my Brownie friends. My favorite Girl Scout cookies are the Thin Mints and Caramel Delites. My sisters are Girl Scouts too. Krystal is a Cadette and Lea is a Daisy. My mom said that Lea’s troop sold almost 2,000 boxes of cookies. My troop didn’t sell that much.

IMG_4377.jpeg Lastly, I want to tell you about my pets. I have 2 goldfish and a puppy named Levi Bear. We got him when he was 7 weeks old. Now he’s 7 months old. He likes to play a lot. He jumps on me and my sisters all the time. He likes to play chase. One time, he was playing too much that he tripped my sister Lea. Lea landed on him by accident and he bit her. He didn’t mean to. But my sister had to have stitches because of that. I thought my mom and dad will give him away. But we get to keep him. We just have to be careful not to play with him too much. He is very playful because he is still a puppy.

Hope you enjoy reading my blog!!!
