Halloween is my favorite time of year because we get to go trick-or-treating for candy.

I have two brothers and one sister. I love my brothers and sister when they are kind and funny.

Star of the Week-Thomas

Hi, I am Thomas and I am going to tell you about my summer at the State Fair. First I have to tell you that I love to oil paint.  My Papa Mike started to teach me how to paint when I was just 5 years old.  It is something special I get to share with my papa.  I like to paint pictures about stuff I am learning in school or places I visit.  Last year I painted pictures of Big Trees State Park, Africa, a hedgehog and the rainforest.  I entered 3 paintings into the California State Fair Fine Arts competition and two of my paintings won awards.  My painting of a lion in Africa got 3rd place and my painting of Big Trees State Park got 2nd place and was also awarded a California State Parks Foundation award.  It was awesome to get the special award.  They gave me a lot of cool state park stuff and also passes to go to the state parks for free.  I have already used one pass a Big Trees State Park. During this summer I also worked in my Papa Mike’s production company building county exhibits for the state fair.  It is a family business my whole family works in together.  I helped paint, clean, stock and even a little building on 7 counties.  The counties we worked on were El Dorado, Shasta, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Butte, Mendocino and Colusa county. Some of the jobs  I would do are paint big fruit, cute little crabs or frames. I would also help my mom by cleaning paint brushes or scraping paint. Once the fair opened my brother, sister and I went in every morning and cleaned the exhibits, restocked brochures and watered plants.  It was a lot of work and I had to get up early but it was worth it when I got my paycheck. Our exhibits won 1 gold and 6 silver medals and we also received a best use of technology and special effects for Monterey county. Here are some pictures of the exhibits. I hope you enjoy them.  I had so much fun and I cannot wait till I am old enough to use the power tools for building. I am the youngest contractor at the CA State Fair.

Star of the Week-AJ

Hi, I am Aj and I just got back from Hawaii.

I love whoppers and pie.  I also love apple juice a lot too.  My favorite restaurant to eat at is Bella Bru.

At Aulani in Hawaii I went on the lazy river and the water slides a whole bunch of times.  I really like science too and they have a fun science class called Stitch’s space goo where you get to make green goo.

I live with my mom and my dad my dog Pasha- she went to the Wag hotel for our Hawaii trip.

My favorite subject in school is workshop and math.  

I love minecraft and I also like the new skylanders game superchargers- i don’t have it yet but i found out there’s all kinds of new elements like earth, sea and sky.

I also love Disneyland- I built a star wars light saber in Disneyland after the star tours ride.  I love the star tours ride!!

Star of the Week-Katherine

Dear Class,

Hello!  My name is Katherine.  I want to tell you about me.  I like listening to music, singing, and dancing.  I play violin and piano.  I really like nature and I want to be a veterinarian.  My favorite animal is deer.  I like to travel.  I have traveled to South Carolina, Alaska, Lake Tahoe, Canada, Korea, Oregon, Washington state, Anaheim, and Fresno.  I liked camping at Big Basin.  Big Basin is a little bit wild.  I like to go to Disneyland and Six Flags.  I took a trip to Six Flags right before school started.  It was a lot of fun.  My favorite part was the butterfly habitat.  I stayed still for a long time and 15 butterflies landed on me.  One of them went on my finger.  We even saw 3 emerge from its chrysalis.

There was a dolphin that came to the window.  He was very friendly and danced for me.  We went to a dolphin show and we got splashed by the dolphins on purpose.

My mom and me got to ride an elephant.

It was the same one that I went on when I was little.  I got to feed sea lions and seals.  I got to touch stingrays.  One of them was hurt.  I got to hold a parrot named Hannah.  I took a picture with two parrots.  I saw my first bald eagle and I saw other animals.

Star of the Week-Jalen

Dear Class,

My favorite game on my kindle fire is Minecraft and the internet.  On the internet I usually watch the Diamond Minecart and Stampy Long Nose.  On Minecraft I’m trying to dye a wolf’s collar to from red to blue.  

One of my other favorite books that I like to read is Minecraft Crafting Book.  It is not a new book, but it’s much bigger than usual Minecraft books, and it’s not a small Minecraft book, like Combat, for example.  It talks about how you can craft things in Minecraft, like magnets, secret blocks, lasers and other stuff like that.  You can only get it at Walmart, but sadly they’re all sold out of the books.
